EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SEARCH

Texas Water Mission (TWM) seeks an Executive Director (ED) to work 30 hours per week to carry out TWM’s mission to “support communities in need by providing safe drinking water with health and hygiene education.” The start date is expected to be July 1, 2024.

TWM has been drilling wells and conducting health and hygiene education in Honduras since 2003. The organization also completed a solar powered rainwater cistern in Haiti in 2021 and began a relationship with the Utah portion of the Navajo Nation in 2019. Several Navajo water projects have been completed and discussion is underway regarding future efforts in the area.

Over TWM’s tenure, climatic changes have reduced availability of freshwater resources worldwide. Access to safe water has become part of USAID’s strategy to incentivize Hondurans to remain in their home country. To help meet these and other challenges, TWM is engaged in a process of discovery and evolution as it discerns best practices for efficiently providing safe drinking water and hygiene solutions to the greatest number of people. Solutions will be multi-faceted and specific to each geography. Components to be considered include partnerships with other non-profits and agencies, different methods for providing water and education, and creative ways to garner support. The ED is an essential part of this organizational evolution and so must excel in collaborative strategy development and implementation.

The ED works closely with the Board of Directors to oversee all TWM operations domestically and abroad as the Board determines. The ED also coordinates TWM’s activities, consisting primarily of fundraising and project management, except those reserved for the Board of Directors and/or officers.

Because TWM conducts projects in Honduras, the ED should be bilingual, reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish. TWM’s “water solutions” strategy will benefit by having an ED with a basic understanding of environmental issues related to water resources and the impacts of climate change. Finally, fundraising is critical to TWM’s continued success, so the ED must have a track record in development that can be applied to the issues at hand.

If you would like to apply for the position, please submit your resume with a cover letter explaining why you are applying, and why you are qualified, for this job either to Texas Water Mission, 111 Torcido Drive, San Antonio, Tx 78209 or texwatermission@gmail.com on or before May 24, 2024.  You may also call the TWM office at (210) 275-0575.  See also, our website, at texaswatermission.org.
